We are: 5 weeks!
Riley and I headed off to the doctors today for her one month check up. She is doing very well, weighing in at 9lb 11oz (65%), 22 inches (83%). She got her second Hep B shot....which caused her to cry out in a horrible scream. It was really cute though, I was holding her head and talking to her, she was staring at me without a care in the world. Then the nurse gave her the shot, Riley's face went bright red, her eyes filled up with tears and then about 5 seconds later she stared to scream and cry. It was the first time she had real tears!! I scooped her up and she immediately stopped crying as the tears rolled down her face.
I had a girls night out tonight. I went to dinner with a two friends from work. It was very nice, but Joe had it rough at home. He said that the minute I shut the door Riley started to cry. He said at one point my mom had called, so he was talking to her, Riley was crying and the delivery guy showed up so Buster went crazy. By the time I got home Joe was sweating and ready to crack open a beer. He said that he totally respects what I do everyday, he said that he had no idea how hard it can be=) Well, off to get Riley to bed and to relax. More to come later!

Playing and a Lazy Sunday
We are: 4 weeks and 4 days!
On Thursday, Hollie and Anessa stopped by for a little visit and a take two on the photo shoot. Hollie got some great pictures of Riley. I can't wait to see them. Then, on Friday Riley and I went to our friends house and had a little play date. Hayan and Hailey (8 months) invited us over, along with Stacey and Luke (3 months) and Ann and Mason (2 weeks). We had some lunch and chatted! It was like our very own Mom's group! Thank you very much for having us over!!
On Sunday Joe, Riley and I ran some errands, then had a lazy day....complete with a nap and laying on the couch! It was perfect!!
Riley has her one month appointment on Wednesday. She will get her next Hep B shot and we will be discussing with the doctor about switching to formula. We will see. Hopefully Dr. Cross will have some helpful tips for us about getting her to not feed so often.
She is growing so quickly, and is getting quite a personality already. I can tell that she recognizes my face and voice and recognizes Joe's voice too. She is really close to smiling "for real". I will talk to her and smile and she curls the side of her mouth up in a half smile. So any day now she will be smiling away.
Joe is becoming quite the bedtime calmer. Usually around 10:30-11:00 Riley gets a bit grumpy and doesn't want to go to sleep, so we have trouble, but Joe seems to have the magic touch!! So...that is when I usually get my chores done!!
Anyways, hope everyone is doing well and I am going to attach some pictures....now that we are in Month One!!

Rough Night
We are: 3 weeks and 6 days!
We had a really rough night last evening. I did not sleep at all. Riley was not happy to be left alone and would cry about 3-5 minutes after being put in her crib. We tried to have her "cry it out", but that didn't work either. So, we are a bit tired today. However, Riley is having no problem sleeping today:

BFF's and a night in a crib!
We are: 3 weeks and 3 days!
Well yesterday was a BIG day!! It started with a trip to meet Riley's new best friend Madeline. They hit it off great!! In fact, they immediately took a nap together!! After hanging out for a bit Riley stayed with her Grandma and Grandpa Bouch for a few hours while Joe and I went to Kilroys for dinner and some live music. Tommy was singing up there so a lot of our friends showed up and it was nice to get out.....although I was a bet anxious to get back to Riley. Once we got home I fed her and put her in her crib for the night. She has been sleeping in our room in the bassinet, so it was nice to not have her in the room and to not hear ever noise she makes! Here are some pictures of her with Madeline and in her crib.

New problems....
So, after a few nights of not sleeping well and throwing up after Riley would breastfeed, she and I headed to the doctor today. She cried last night from about 5-10. She was really tired and hungry, but would not eat from me. So, finally at about 10pm Joe and I gave in and gave her 4oz of formula. She chugged it and was sound asleep by 11. We did not hear from her again until 4am! So after 5 hours of sleep I figured she had slept off whatever was bothering her and she would be back to normal.....not so!! Our 4am feeding was not an easy one at all. She was chugging away at my milk and all things seemed normal, until I went to burp her and got vomit all over me! So......at 9 this morning I called the doctors office and Riley and I headed in for some help. The doctor doesn't think she has reflux, since she was fine with the formula last night. Instead, we have figured out that there are a few problems:
1. Riley has thrush. Since she is taking in so much milk, she is not swallowing it all at once and leaves some in her mouth, therefore it is causing a yeast infection on her tongue. SO we have some medicine for that.
2. I am producing SSOOO much milk that when she is going to feed from me she is taking in too much, therefore she is choking on it and then throws it back up. So, I need to pump my milk and feed her from a bottle. Or, I need to pump a little out first, then breastfeed her. I am going to opt for the pump all of it out and feed from the bottle, just seems like a few less steps!
So this afternoon we started our medicine and I started pumping and feeding from the bottle....worked like a charm. She ate at 3:30 and is still sound asleep!! (it is now 6:30). If nothing else we are an hour past the time she started screaming last night! We are planning to start a "schedule" next week that was recommended to us by our friend. It is by the Baby Whisperer and they say that within a week your baby will be sleeping from 11-7!! I sure hope it works!

Too Cocky....
Well, Joe and I got a little too cocky about our perfect little baby! The last 3 nights have not been fun. Riley must be going through a growing spurt. She is hungry every 2 hours. Which is not good when it is taking her 30 minutes to fall back asleep after eating! So, during the day it is not too bad, but at night it gets a bit tiring.
We went to the doctor on Thursday for her 2 week check up.....she has added a full pound! Dr. Crim was very impressed and was also very happy to see that she was so wide awake and active. She said that she was "spicy"! Her height is 21.5 inches, which is in the 90%!! And her weight is up to 8lb 4oz!! She still has chicken legs, but her belly is filling out.
We have started her on Tummy Time a few times a day. She likes it at first, but then gets frustrated that she can't see and look around, so after about 5 minutes she is done. But she seems to enjoy the first few minutes!
I will post new pictures soon.

Two weeks already!!
So this morning Joe and I celebrated Riley's 2 week birthday! After Joe had gone to do his first job for the day he returned home before his next one. We all climbed back into bed and at 11:15 celebrated her birthday! I was telling him last night that I can't believe it has only been 2 weeks that we have known her. I feel like she has been with us for much longer. We head to the doctors tomorrow for her 2 week check up and I head to my doctor on Friday for my 2 week check-up too. My incision is healing well and I would like to think that I did a great job of recovering. I was able to control the pain with just Tylenol (which i am not longer needing either). Hopefully Dr. Zaita will tell me on Friday when I can hit the gym again......pool season is just around the corner!!
